Founded in 1997, the indie-noise rock band TORPID presents a
balanced fusion of various rhythms, melodies and emotions.
Characterised by the experimental use of the guitar and vocals,
it’s no surprise that the band cites “Shellac” and “Sonic Youth”
as their main influences. Comparisons have also been made to
“Pavement”, “Helmet” and “Fugazi”, yet their creative approach
to this genre means they’re not easily pigeon-holed.
TORPID have played around 250 gigs, opening for bands including
“Placebo”, “Daft Punk”, “The Robocop Kraus”, “VandalX” and
“The Oxes”. In 2003, Torpid relocated to Brussels. Following
the departure of their drummer Pat M. in 2004, the group was
joined by Simon F. and started composing songs
for the fifth album, which was recorded at
“Electrical Audio” by Steve Albini in November
2006 and is due to come out in june 2007,
distributed by “Bang”.
